Poor guy. Rough life. Anyway, we soon headed out to the river to see what the day held.
It was a beautiful day as you can see and there is some pretty scenery near our marina. As we ventured further out, I took a moment to appreciate all the hard work The Captain put in on cleaning our new gal up. If you could have seen a "before" pic, you would be seriously impressed.
We just ran up and down the river randomly while I wrote a letter to Sol on the back of a PBR 12 pack. I thought he might like to receive a letter written so creatively as he once wrote me a letter on the back of an MRE (meals ready to eat) box. I wanted to detail everything I was seeing and enjoying so he could have a bit of the experience too. He is really having a tough time right now and we are currently incommunicado because he has recently changed bases and is unable to call or email right now. I don't even have an address for him but eventually, when he resurfaces, I'll get that off to him. He loves to get letters where I just tell him about the things that I am doing. For him, it makes it worth it to be doing what he is doing so that others can enjoy the amazing life we have here in America.
Anyway, midway through our trip I spotted an American Bald Eagle riding a current above the bluff and managed to capture him on film although the resolution is poor because I had to really crop it so you all could see. It was amazing to see him just flying about enjoying the day.
As I was still beaming from ear to ear at seeing a bald eagle, a float plane flew over and landed downriver from us. We got to watch the whole thing and then the float plane went by us doing what The Captain called a "step taxi" which means instead of flying, it was cruising along like a boat. So cool to watch! Again, a moving boat combined with a moving plane make for a blurry photo.
After all those fun sightings, we checked out a tiny island with a grill and two picnic tables on it. We are scouting locations to stop and cook dinner possibly tonight with Deeg and Cess if the weather holds. It's supposed to be rainy but it looks gorgeous right now!
The Captain tried out his new step ladder to assist us in getting from boat to island. It folds up in a little square when not in use and extends way down so you don't have to jump off the boat then attempt to climb way back up on it so we can get on and off the boat with ease when we are beached. Slick!
We probably stayed out on the river for a few hours before heading back to the marina just enjoying being together on such a beautiful day in such a beautiful spot.
Tonight after work, I am helping with a service event for our block. One of my neighbors and I were talking about a doing something service oriented with he kids on the block and of course I suggested adopting a soldier. She thought that was a great idea and Sol was able to give me the name of someone who could use the support. This time we are just sending cards and letters, but once we have established contact, we will probably get together again to send needed/wanted items to him. Just like Sol, he is currently without address but as soon as Sol resurfaces, we can get our cards and letters in the mail to him as I already have his name and rank. Should be fun to get together with my awesome neighbors to do something for someone else.
Then later, we have plans with Deeg and Cess for dinner. Neither one of them has ever had the world famous burgers The Captain whips up. Known as Divine Bovine or Heaven on a Bun, many people we know clamor for these amazing treats. I hope those two are ready because they may never be the same afterwards. We are not sure where we will be having our dinner but I'm sure we will have a great time. There is some talk of post dinner socializing with other friends and so you see why I'm so glad we had nothing going on last night!
Well, that's it for now. Hope you all have a fabulous Friday and appreciate the amazing gifts of health and freedom!

Looks like it was a wonderful day, both out on the FW II and back at home just chillin' with The Captain. Yay for you!! Thanks for sharing the pics and the day, and hope your weekend is wonderful!
What a fab day. And love the block service idea.
Na-uh, it's "___Red Hot Meat" (I can't even believe that Heaven on a bun crap made it's way onto your blog...)
Have you posted the burger recipe before? If so, point me in the right direction? No rush considering we're not even allowed to grill in our apartment complex, but some day!
I'm jealous that you guys get to boat - that's a long goal for my husband and me (given the beautiful lakes in Austin) - I'd love to be able to fill up a day wiht travel on the water!
